He’s Leaving Home, Bye, Bye

The day I leave home has arrived. The humans in Liverpool are excited, especially big dog human who has to watch American Chopper to calm down (it was the only thing on according to his channel hopping at a stoopidly early hour). Me I’m chilled, Helen my human in Derby gives me a bath. I resist the temptation to do a Henry Cooper and ‘Splash it all over, yeah, yeah, yeah!’ but I ain’t no brut.

Little Canine Dog and Little Human Dog

The little dog human proves to be a little hard to wake, eventually the cold flannel does the job. He don’t want to get up until he’s remeinded that today is the day to fetch me and he positively leaps out of bed. They are over cautious on the journey time and have a couple of hours to kill in Derby. They fill it by buying me things like shampoo, a tooth brush and the odd treat.

A little early they arrive to pick me up. A quick Q and A session with Helen, and into the cat box for the journey along with the little dog human’s blanket that he letft for me. I’m not certain if it’s the car journey or the fact that I’m leaving home but I do have a little whinge in the back of the car. Thing is the little dog human is great, he comforts me and calms me down and we get to know each other. Nice kid, if a little funny looking, I can’t see a tail on him and he’s got weird multi-colour fur.

Around 11.30 we get home. The new place is alright, I can tell that because first thing they do is to take me out and then give me food. They seem to want me to pee to order, what’s that all about? They must be into that sort of thing because I get heaped with praise when I manage (mind you it’s hard going with an audience). I also discover the delights of chasing leaves in the garden.

The rest of the day is filled with another meal, playing with each human in turn and some kip. I think I’ll like it here.

Ivy, Ivy, Ivy

The delights of Primal Scream get celebrated as further developments on the dog proofing happen at the new gaff. Older dog human was seen wielding the hedge clippers again so I can’t hide in the Ivy around the fence. It needed hacking back anyway but he’s taken it a bit further than he would otherwise.

A quick shout out to Eileen and her Spanial posse.

4 sleeps ’til I move home. They seem to be getting excited at the new house and ready for me.

Human Activity

Sam Proof Gate?Word is that my human’s have been busy preparing for my arrival in 6 sleeps time. First off, they pick me, sound choice, humans! Then they go and buy me food (that’s a relief), a basket and basket holder, various toys that they think are amusing, a collar and lead (not certain I like the sound of them).

Then they fetched some wire so they could Sam proof the gate on their garden. Sounds like a challenge to me. I’m mentally humming the great escape tune. Now where did I put my wire cutters and black balaclava?

Sam’s the Name

Sam’s the name, Sam Diamond Lamb in full, but you can call me Sam.Sam It’s shorter, easier, and believe me I’m gonna be short enough for all of us. As you can see I’m a puppy, more precisely I’m a silver dapple miniature dachshund of the long hair variety. I even have the papers to prove it, – well I will have once the Kennel Club get round to sending them back. Right now I’m not with my human, I’m still at home with my Mum. The human came and picked me from my litter yesterday. There are three of us, two dogs and one bitch. The other pair are chocolate dapples, so I’m a little bit special.

Anyway things you need to know are that I currently live in Derby. I’m going to live in the Capital of Culture, Liverpool. Dunno if I’ll pick up a scouse accent as I grow up, but it’ll be fun finding out. I might not pick up the accent, because while my human Callum was born a scouser, the other two are from Glasgow and Wallingford. There is a connection with Derby though, the dog human’s Grandfather used to live in that part of the world. My birthday is 10th May, because that was when I was whelped. So I’m currently 7 weeks and 1 day old. When the human’s come to pick me up I’ll be exactly 8 weeks old. Anyway that makes me a Taurus according to Wikipedia and makes me

‘resourceful, thorough, dependable, responsible, loyal, patient, placid, stable, sensual, affectionate, comfortable, solid, earthy, strong, money-oriented, practical, productive, cautious, musical, and artistic. They can also sometimes be stubborn, indulgent, insecure, acquisitive, possessive, rigid, stodgy and slow.’

So that’s me so far. 7 more sleeps ’til I leave home and join the new family. Not certain how I feel about that. Just to finish off on a positive note, I’m already teaching my human’s things, like how to spell miniature and dachshund!
